Going Up, Up, Up The League!
In case you missed it, West Ham has gained another place in the league this season.
Rising to 16th in all-time top flight league - and I'm not talking Year Zero Premier nonsense but the top division since 1888-89 - the Hammers have now spent 65 seasons (of 124) in the top flight and are now level with Derby County but go ahead due to the fact the Hammers are still there. The Irons have now pulled well ahead of recent league rivals Sheffield Utd (62), Stoke (62) & Middlesbrough (61).
Just ahead of us are Sheff Weds (66) and then Wolves (68). Bolton Wanderers (73 seasons) and sitting in 12th place currently is the only team ahead of us to have never won the title. Wanderers have won the FA Cup more often but have never been successful in Europe.
Depending on your view, West Ham can probably claim to be the least successful big club or the most successful little club.

I know, it is odd when you look at it but your point about it being skewed by the last 40 years is spot on. West Ham was a solid second-tier club until Greenwood came aboard.
I always thought it was odd seeing those stars on the shirts of the Huddersfield team when they were in the Premier League a couple of seasons back. It seems astonishing they were a big name in English football. The place is only just over 18 square miles and is not much more than a large market town.
If the Earth survives another 40 years I think this will skew even more. There's a middle block in that table of 10th Sunderland (86 seasons), 11th West Brom (82), 12th Bolton (73), and 13th Blackburn (72). Of those, the only club I could see making a big comeback with the right investors interested might be Sunderland.

We are the least successful big team.
And it’s has always been down to shit ownership. Our History of owners have been never better than abysmal. Too out right fucking atrocious. It’s basic plumbing. Shit trickle’s down.

West Ham on the tongues of so many and an abundance of great Bands and music.

Seems crazy we've spent only just over half our existence in the top division. Then again that's skewed by only about 6 in the last 40 in the second tier. For that reason it seems mental that our 'contemporaries' are sides like the Sheffield teams, Stoke, Middlesbrough,Wolves, Bolton and Derby.
Suppose they've had the flip trajectory in the last 40 years of far more seasons outside the top tier after a successful early history.
I'd go with least successful big club. We are in the grand scheme of things a big club.

When you look at all the teams that haven't won the top division once in their history, we are easily the biggest, I reckon.
